This blog is dedicated to Piers Gaveston, Earl Of Cornwall. Piers, also known as Perrot, was the favourite of Edward II. Depending on historical interpretation, the definition of 'favourite' ranges from 'brother', 'beloved friend' or 'lover'. This blog will be a mix of historical narrative, personal opinion and hopefully some lighter postings! The Plus will cover other historical matters.

Glad you liked them, Anerje! I wonder what the pardon for that man's death was all about...?!
well, those who dislike Piers reckoned he got away with murder - possibly he did. I guess it's one of those things we'll never find out.
I can't see Piers murdering with intent. Maybe I'm biased, but it just doesn't sit with my impresison of his character. Youthful swaggering brawl that got out of hand?
Or possibly,of course, an enemy laying charges at his door.
that does sound more realistic, actually Ceirseach - it was either a put up job to provoke him and thus accuse him of murder, or self-defence, or some sort of brawl. Or maybe some sort of blow to his honour that demanded he re-act? Cold-blooded murder does not sit with what we know of Piers.
