These photos are from my visit to the Tower of London in November. The Medieval Palace has been revamped and the focus is on Edward 1st. Next to the Christmas tree by St Peter ad Vincula, there is a sculpture of Edward and his Queen, Eleanor of Castile, with a baby - I presume the future Edward II.
This blog is dedicated to Piers Gaveston, Earl Of Cornwall. Piers, also known as Perrot, was the favourite of Edward II. Depending on historical interpretation, the definition of 'favourite' ranges from 'brother', 'beloved friend' or 'lover'. This blog will be a mix of historical narrative, personal opinion and hopefully some lighter postings! The Plus will cover other historical matters.

June 19th Remembering Piers Gaveston
This day, of course, marks the anniversary of Piers Gaveston. I’ve really neglected this blog this year. Not because of a wane in my interest, but because there has been a lot going on, and there is nothing new to add. Kathryn Warner’s excellent blog on Edward II contains everything you need to know about Piers Gaveston. But I couldn’t let this day pass without remembering Piers and what happened to him. RIP Piers Gaveston.
