Piers Gaveston Day!

Today is, of course, the anniversary of Piers' murder - I won't use the word execution. I have neglected Piers terribly the last couple of months - due to heavy work commitments. But I've decided today will be Piers Gaveston Day. I won't be dwelling on the sadness of Blacklow Hill. I shall be remembering the fun side of Piers - those searing insults to the barons, his mastery as a knight - particularly the Wallingford tornament - and his love of finery. Most of all, his loyalty and devotion to Edward II. I shall definitely be raising a glass to toast him tonight!

Here's to Piers!

I can't help feeling sad at this time, especially since Piers' brother Guillaume-Arnaud also died at about the same time as Piers. What a blow to their family and supporters.

A very sad anniversary. :( RIP, Piers! I raised a glass of the red French stuff in his honour yesterday evening.

Love your idea of remembering the good times rather than this sad occasion!
